Easter Sunday sermon — PASTOR SAM MAKANJU
This Easter message reflects on the Passover, the sacrificial exchange of Christ, and the call to pursue righteousness for personal and national excellence.
The entrance of the word giveth light, it giveth understanding unto the simple. There is a place where the undiluted word of God is shared. Welcome to this bringing Cherubim Church, will preach and teach the full gospel, will demonstrate the power of the spirit to inspire, equip, and impart believers for the fulfillment of the great commission. Come and worship with us. We are the burning ones, heralds of a new dawn. feeling of that's pandemic we never come to our dwelling in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. Because that blood was what was used in the land of Goshen. And the blood when the angel of destruction came, and whenever he sees the blood, that angel will pass their home. As you are sitting down here, and wherever you are rooted to, whenever destruction comes, whenever darkness or sickness comes, they will pass you over in the name of Jesus. Amen. This is a celebration of Passover. Yes sir. So, it means that death is passing you over. Amen. Sickness is passing you over. Amen. Poverty is passing you over. Amen. Joblessness is passing you over. Amen. Marital ill love is passing you over. Amen. In the name of Jesus. Amen. We are more than conquerors in the mighty name of Jesus. So, this morning, I just want to charge us again and expose us one more time to this great exchange that God has gone through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, it was a great exchange. That's somebody who knew no sin, came to pay for sinners. You know, it is you will you It's even difficult for fathers, assuming in a law court, and a child is being accused of murder, for for instance. And they now said, "Okay, since everybody is aware that whenever you kill anybody, you are likely to be sentenced to death by hanging or life imprisonment." But now, we now have people around us. Let's take for example, we now said, "Me, who have been living in my own righteousness, I have been living in my own integrity, I have been warning this early children not to go into sin, not to go into anything that would destroy them." Yet, they keep doing the same thing you have been warning them again. And if you are such father as Jesus, If you are such mother as Jesus, will you have gone to say, "No, leave this my daughter, leave this my son, although I have been warning him, but he refused. But let me just go and serve that death sentence or death by hanging." Who among us could do that? Who? None of us. We'll be saying, "Have to roll, have have been warning him." Some fathers will even say, "I disown you immediately in the law court." So, I disown you. Anything you want to do with your life, go and do." So, I will even say, "You are not the only one that I have. I have other people." It's so we will say even even though I don't have other people, I will go and adopt. So, but imagine the kind of love that Jesus had for us. He left his place of comfort. He came to this sinful world and he died for our own sin. He took your place, he took my place. He was beaten, He was chastised, He was hung on the tree, He died and he rose again for our justification. Hallelujah. And for our home glorification. Yes sir. And in this month, as we all know, that this month is our month of excellence. And you will excel in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. From the Sunday school that we started this morning, we knew critically, we knew very well that death is the payment and the wages of anything committed by any man. Amen. Amen. But somebody now came, said, "Ah, instead of this person to die, instead of Ajibola to die, instead of two nicha to die, let me go and die in their stead." Jesus now took himself as that lamb of God. That blameless lamb of God. Because even in Old Testament, if they are to sacrifice any lamb, it must be the one without blemish. And scripture had it that Jesus was without any fault. So, there is no other sacrifice or atonement that could please God than that of His sinless son. He now came. He died for us. He took our pain. He took our peace. And so, that you and I, we will have we could live comfortable the way we are living. Amen. See, I want to assure you, many of us would have been dead, if not for Jesus. Especially myself, talking to you. I came from a family that are battle ready place. Where they don't want anybody to succeed. But because of Jesus, the day I met Jesus. So, his angels have been on guard defending for me and he has been also doing everything on my behalf to silence the accuser. But this angel didn't just come except you do the will of God. So, in this month of excellence, coupled with our instant program that you are doing, I want us to go to the book of Proverbs. Proverbs chapter number 14 and verse 34. Proverbs righteousness exalt a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Hey. Sin is a reproach to any people. So, if you want to excel, you must do away with sin. So, if you want to excel in this month of excellence, only righteousness exalts a nation. Christ was exalted. Why? Because He was blameless, He was sinless. So, if you if you care for any kind of excellence, In this period, you must seek and pursue after righteousness. Because our God, Jesus himself, who had come to give himself for us, was exalted, He was exalting in all areas of His life, and He also wants us His children to exalt. So, if you are living a life contrary to excellence, it means that something has to be checked in your life. But whatever, maybe through ignorance that the devil has been cheating you, this morning and because of this instant celebration, you will take from the devil and knock him out of your life in the name of Jesus. Amen. So, righteousness exalted a nation. So, anybody, be it an individual, man or woman, young or old, so we must seek to pursue righteousness. So, in the in the account of Genesis, we discovered that what brought sorrow and death to mankind was also seen. When Adam and Eve went this, because God placed them in that garden so that they will be walking, that they should be walking in that garden. But when they sinned, they began to labour. Amen. Amen. So, when they sinned, when they when they fell off the structure, they began to labour. See, there is different between working and labour. Amen. Amen. You will see in an organization, let's take for example, you will see a manager, all he just need to do is to pass instruction. Pass, okay, you do this, you do that, you do this, you do that. And there are people who are who are doing the labour work. Where they will sweat where they are doing it, they call them laboura in every village, in every clay. Is that also? Yes sir. They call them laboura. It means they will labour from morning till night. One rubrikiy, one jobrikiy, one rupunkun, they will do all sort of things. So, those are the ones that are labouring. But the grace that will make us to be a worker, we are not laboura. Actually, we need to labour in the word of God, but not to be labouring as bricklayers. Not to be labouring like unbelievers. We are to do things that God has already remarked and paid for us. And the grace to enjoy this we will have it henceforth in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. When it was time for Israel to bless his sons, he called them, and he said, "Reuben, you are my firstborn, but because of what you have done, only you will not excel." Place a cause on his Just when somebody was dying for his son, somebody was cursing his son. You you will not excel. But, thank God to Jesus. Hallelujah. He came, he took away all the handwriting, all the contrary thing that is written against us, every cause of the law, he nailed it to his cross. Glory to God. Hallelujah. He shall over principalities and darkness. Oh, thank you Jesus. So, he made us to dwell with him, he make us to be where he is reigning. He now make you to be kings, He make you to be queen, He make you to be king, prince and princesses. You are now radiance. So, the devil has no power over your life anymore. Why? Because he who are the key of death and hell, Jesus now said, "I have the key of death and hell," in that book of Revelation. So, all the key to your earth, if you go to Isaiah 53, I don't just want to be burdening us because I know that we have we have Bible students here. So, but let's go to the Bible to the Isaiah 53. So, I want you to understand something there. Isaiah 53. Glory to God. Hallelujah. Start reading from verse let's from verse one. Who had believed our report? Who had believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? To whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? Yes? For he shall grow up before him. Go to go to verse 3. He is despised and rejected of men. Who are we talking about here? Jesus. He was despised and rejected of men. And this was what the Pharisee, the Jew, this was, these were the things they did unto him, yes? And a man of sorrows. A man of sorrows. And acquainted with grief. And he was acquainted with grief. He was wounded with grief, yes. And we eat as it were. Hey, we eat as it were. Our faces from him. And what, yet we are not troubled, yes? He was despised. He was despised. We esteem him not. We just esteem him lightly. Yes? Surely. Only surely, He has born our griefs. Hey, He has bore your sorrows. Yes, we did esteem him stricken. Oh, I want you to pause there. When someone say he had carried your sorrow, your grief and yet you are still carrying it. It's just like when I'm holding a car now and I'm driving. These are the things that have been happening to a lot of people. So, when we allow Jesus to be the driver of our life and destiny, you will discover that you will have a safe landing. But, when Jesus said, "I have carried your grief, I have carried your sorrow and yet," There is nothing that is special to you or peculiar to you that some people have not passed through. In that 1st Corinthians 10:13, 1st Corinthians 10:13, I want somebody to help us to read. So, you don't have a peculiar problem. The only thing you have is peculiar ignorance. There are no temptations, There are no temptations taking you that is taking you. But as such is common to man. Take glory. Only such is common to man. But God is faithful, But God is faithful. who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able. He will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able. but will with the temptation also make the way to escape, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape that ye may be able to bear it that you may be able to bear it. Hey, that you are able. So, could see, there is no that they are and my problem is by the time you experience and you encounter another person, you will discover that your problem is nothing compared to somebody else. You will discover that once you are passing through, millions are passing through the same thing. So, which means that because there is no gathering whereby they do they need of those who are suffering. So, you don't know who is suffering most. So, you will know you won't know is so when you now think that you are the one suffering, by the time you experience another man's journey, you will know that You forget your You just be giving thanks. You forget your lifetime. Because you will not that you are so you are. Oh, so those are those will be your songs. And so, I want us to be happy in conditions we are. Because it has make you to be above them. So, it make you to be above principalities and above power according to that Colossians 2:14. So, it has make you, you are not a person to be pitty. You are not redeemed to be pitty. Yes, sir. You are not redeemed to be sorrowful. You are redeemed to be above and above. So, we are peace setters. Yes, sir. We are the pathfinders. We are to lead and others follow. So, but you need to discover yourself. I want you to pray this prayer as you are sitting down, you are land up. I want you to say Lord in this season in this season, let me know myself. Let me discover myself and pray in the. I want you to praise pray it that this season, let me discover who I am. Let me know who I am. Hey, let me know who I am. Father, I want a self-discovery. I knew. Hey, I want to knew discovery of myself. Lord, new discovery of myself. In Jesus, mighty name we are still praying. Amen. I want you to pray this. Pray, pray this prayer. Only that your eyes of understanding be open. So, so that you will know the riches, you will know what he has done for you. I want you to cry to Him this hour, and say, "Father, open my eyes of understanding. Open my eyes of understanding. Open my eyes of understanding, so that I will know the riches of what you have done, of what your death and resurrection have done for us." Open your mouth and begin to pray. Open your mouth and begin to pray. Lord, open our eyes of understanding. Open our eyes of understanding. Lord, we want to know you, we want to know you. In your mighty name, we have prayed. Amen. So, I want you to finally I want you to take this to heart, and I want you to take care of So, and I want you to be your watch word. And you are going to tell it, or you say it believingly. That, Lord, It is finished. Hallelujah. The reason why I want us to pray this prayer is You see this period, since I gave my life to Christ, this period has been period of God's instructions to me. Has been God's definite instructions. When there was a time, I was in Lagos, I was praying in the middle of the night. And where I I I I mend down on my three sisters like this. And as I was praying that prayer, I cost in revelation. And the revelation I cost, then, things were terribly bad. The revelation I cost was that I saw myself beside a graveyard. A graveyard that looks very greenish. It was a very beautiful garden. You could not even know that there were graves there. But, as I was praying, I was taken into that revelation to that place. And I saw Jesus, Jesus sitting in front of me like this. So, when I now saw him, he now called my name. He called it twice, not twice. He called my name twice. And instead of me to respond, somebody from the dust rose. Instead of myself to respond, somebody from the dust just rose. And I now look like a person, you know, I was I was still where I was kneeling down. I now look at the person and said, "Ah, you you resemble me." As I got the person like this, I came out of that revelation. And since that very moment, things have begun to be turning around for good. So, that is why I said period like this, it has been mountain of revelation of instructions. But, I pray that yours will not pass you by. Amen. Amen. So, what God has, because see, once it is normal for the devil, when you are in when you are a sinner, it is it is absolutely normal for the devil to afflict you, yes, sir. To put you in grace, then, before I came out of that grace, my life was nothing. Because I was a sinner then. So, even if I say I go to church, I will go to church during the time they are about to round up. We go to church just to show my wife even when we were small, we have been doing Yanga in the church. It is this why we come to church like this, they will know that oh, I'm wearing a Yanga today. I wear one day. So, you know, because why? We have been using cars when we were in secondary school. So, they have seen us as as bad boy, and with that mentality, the devil, he doesn't living such kind of lifestyle, the devil will just be manipulating your destiny. But, every destiny the devil had manipulated. All that is manipulated personally, because the stone Could not o Jesus in the grave. You are coming out in the mighty name of Jesus. Because that grave could not even hold never. You are unstoppable in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. Henceforth, I decree upon your destiny. You are high flyer in the mighty name of Jesus. See, I have been enjoying God in some kind of things beyond my income and beyond my own reasoning. And I pray for someone, you will experience more than that in the mighty name of Jesus. Where I am living now, the people who are living there, they are house…
