00 Disciple's Cave Intro - Olaopa Olajide Michael — Olaopa Olajide Michael
Introductory teaching outlining core Christian doctrines: God, Christ, salvation, discipleship, Scripture, honor, growth, leadership and spiritual gifts.
All right. Um good day everybody. So, um few weeks ago, I said I'll be taking us on some teachings on this group. And so, within that period, I've come up with a list of things we'll be looking at. All right. Um and also, during that period, I've had time to talk with my spiritual father. And um he has given me his go-ahead for this. So, let's get straight to it. All right. So, in the coming weeks, I'll be taking us on um just introductions to few doctrines um that I think or feel is important for us to know and be aware of, at least on a very basic level. Um everyone of us should have basic understanding of these things, these doctrines. All right. All right. So, the first thing we'll be looking at will be the doctrine of God. The doctrine of God. And um next to that, we'll be looking at the doctrine of Christ. All right. So, let me go back a little bit. So, under the doctrine of God, um we'll be considering um things like who is God or what is God, where does God come from, um what kind of personality does God have, does God have, what um what are his attributes, and we'll discuss the Trinity too in this part. And I want us to to know that it's a very important thing to know, um to understand this introductory part. So, we'll move on to the doctrine of Christ, which is um flowing out of the doctrine of Trinity, because under Trinity, we'll look at the Father, the Son, the Spirit, then we'll move on to look at who the Christ is. All right. So, specifically, we will look at the doctrine of Christ, who Jesus is, um answer questions like, is Jesus God, um and other related questions. Um All right. So, from there, we move on to salvation as a topic, the doctrine of salvation. What is salvation? What does it entail? What does it comprise of? Um what does it mean to be saved? What is repentance? What is faith towards God? What is regeneration, justification, sanctification, all of those things. Um we will look at it under salvation. Um how are we how are we sure that we are saved? All right. So, we will look at these things. Um next to that, we will look at discipleship. All right. Um so, after salvation, one of the most important um part of our Christian journey is discipleship. So, we will look at what is discipleship. All right. So, um next to that, we will look at the word of God. Um theologically speaking, um bibliography, bibliography. But that's not very important, but we will just be considering the word of God. Oh, I'm saying that the word bibliography is not so important to us now. But the idea of the word of God, what the word of God is, how to interpret it, how to understand it, how to use it, that's important to us. So, whether I call it bibliography or I just say the word of God, that is less important, but the things we want to teach under there is the most important thing. So, um we will do a an overview, I'm trusting God, we will do an overview of all books in the Bible, how to study the the Bible. Um Yeah. So, basically, we will we will run through that, how to profit from scripture. All right. So, the next thing is honor. Honor. Honor as a topic. What is honor? Biblical honor. Um Biblical honor. Who are those we give honor to? Because um nowadays, people talk about honor and they miss certain parts. For example, um the biblical injunction, the biblical teaching of the Bible is that all of us are to honor one another on a basic level. Like, for starters, everybody should honor the other person. All right. Then the Bible goes on to tell us that there are people we must give double honor. All right. Then we will look at all of those and also look at what honor is not. In the name of honor, people have done crazy things, um unscriptural things, right? Yeah. So, um next to that, we will look at spiritual growth and character development. All right. So, I will take that together as one topic for the purposes of these teachings. All right. Just to give us introduction, foundations for these things. They are not necessarily um so in-depth yet. All right. Then the next thing will be leadership and ministry. Leadership and ministry. Every believer has a ministry, um an assignment, a service that they render in the body. All right. And um with service comes the responsibility for leadership at some point. Um we will look at all of that. And um lastly, for now, we will look at the gifts of the Holy Spirit. All right. So, those are the things we will be looking at. I trust God to help us, to help me too, to to go through these things for us um as much as I can and as fast as I can and um in the best way I can. All right. So, um everybody on the group, you you already know why you are here. So, as this teaching is going on, if there are questions, we will answer them. If there are things in your personal life that you feel you need to discuss or open up, um ensure you do that privately, of course. Privately, of course. Um Yeah. So, please, um let's look forward to it. Um I trust God to give us strength, to give us grace, to give us um help from above. Yeah. All right. So, in the course of this, um maybe during during this or after this, we will read books, we will um have a form of accountability structure for ourselves to help ourselves grow. Because I want to emphasize again that the purpose of submitting for discipleship, for mentorship, um for sonship, whatever name you want to call it, is not for um just access or just to farms and say, "Oh, this person is my father in the Lord, um this is my discipler." It's good, but the main purpose is so that we might learn Christ and grow to conform to his image. All right. So, everything we will be doing must be um towards achieving that, towards ensuring that we are moving towards that goal. All right. So, um and I want to say this um that growth takes um it requires two things, consistency and time. Um the time it will take for us to grow depends on our consistency, and our consistency matters a lot. So, you see, um there is always a time frame when it comes to growth. You do not grow in a day. However, the time for your growth can either be long or be short, depending on how you yield yourself to God's dealing. And I want to also remind us that discipleship is ultimately between, or should I say, it's ultimately learning from Christ himself, right? Learning from Christ himself. Um so, beyond the things that we will discuss here, we will teach here, we must strive to seek God on a personal note, study on a personal note, pray on a personal note, have personal communion with God. All right. Um yes, we must strive to do that. You see, beyond filling our head with knowledge, what God wants is that we have an experiential knowledge of him. We come to know him at an experiential level. Um I'm not saying that you should keep seeking for experiences, like, oh, you want to see angels, you want to have dreams. These things are good. I'm saying God wants us to have experiential knowledge of him, that anything you know about him, you know it with experience. You know it in your head, you know it in your heart, and it becomes an experiential life for you. So, it doesn't just end in your head, it also becomes your life, right? Yeah. So, that's it. That's it, basically. That's um what God will help us do. So, God bless you. Amen. We'll see again, we'll meet again. All right. So, at the end of each um topic, we might have questions, assignments that will just help us keep track of how fast we are learning and um help us, you see, be structured to help us, you know, apply what we are learning to our lives. All right. So, God bless you. I will I will see you guys um see you guys around. All right.
