THE REVELATION OF WORSHIP — Prophet Cherub Obadare
Prophet Cherub Obadare teaches a new understanding of worship, urging believers to move beyond tradition and embrace true adoration of God.
Take it away from him. Can you worship the work of redemption? Worship God. Worship God for the work of redemption. No power of hell No spirit or man can ever block me. Ever block me. Till he returns. Oh cause me oh. Yeah, we did. In the park of Christ. Your power of man. She knows keep me. Oh, keeping my hand. Can ever block me from his hands. Till he returns. Oh, cause me oh. In the park of Christ. It has not yet appear what we are going to look like. It has not yet appear. It has, we have not come to the full revelation. Listen to me. Listen to me. He says the weight of the glory that awaited us cannot be compared to the present affliction. It has weighs whatever a man calls suffering. I give you one minute to express gratitude. Holy Spirit of God, we thank you. What a manner, what manner of love is this. That we are called the children of God. This is why we are persuaded, that not hunger, not death, not sickness can take us away. I am persuaded. Amen. He said, for we have come to Mount Zion where we belong. Glory to God. Lord, we worship you this morning. Thank you, Jesus. We celebrate your holy name. Thank you for the privilege. We worship you. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Holy Ghost. Celebrate him. Please, I want to ask you, is there anything sweeter than this? Nothing. Not money, not sex, not food, not nothing. It's sweeter. And enjoying the presence of God. Celebrate him. Please have your seat. Let's celebrate the choir. God bless you. Amen. For leading us in that powerful session, God bless you. Hallelujah. I want to welcome everyone in the name of the Lord Jesus. I pray that the Lord will keep increasing and blessing us in the name of Jesus. This morning, how many of you were at the vigil? Were you blessed? Yes, sir. Please, I need you people to go and listen to that message again. All right? Listen to it until it becomes part of you. Amen. There is no other testimony that you can have. And for a man to show you the scripture and show you how by that same principle, He has gotten to the top, it will take stupidity to reject such knowledge. May the Lord help us. I'm going to be starting a series today, I titled the revelation of worship. Write it down, the revelation of worship, the revelation of worship. Lately I have been, I began to sense in my spirit that God wants to lead us as a church in a dimension higher than how we used to know what worship is or what we called worship. And the Lord began to minister to me, I was on my way back coming from Niger state and began to speak to me about worship. I share briefly some of the things the Lord began to minister to my heart in one of our Bible studies, and I felt it's necessary I convey this to the church so that we can all be running on the same platform. And we are going to be taking our test from the book of John chapter four, from verse nineteen. I would like to give quickly, let's look at this scripture, very important. This John chapter 4:19 is our anchor scripture for this series, so please follow attentively. I always see it as important to be at the session of any of our four series, it helps you understand even as we continue. The woman said unto him, "Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet." I perceive that you are a prophet. Why? He told her a few things about her life, and now that makes her to start saying some things that were traditional and religious to the woman. Look at verse 20. Now as soon as she perceived that Jesus was a prophet, she began to talk religion and the tradition of her fathers. I don't know what kind of prophet you are, but I know something about our own religion and tradition. Our fathers worship on this mountain, that's the proper English. And you say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. She knew she was talking to a prophet who should be from Jerusalem and Israelites, because most of the prophets then that God was using, so she just knew he was an Israelite. That in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. And the Holy Ghost began to speak to my heart that one of the things that has corrupted true worship even in the body of Christ today is the tradition of the fathers. This is how our fathers have been doing it. One of the things that are perverse, true worship. Accurate worship of God is the things we have learned, superstitions, dogmas that we have learned growing up. What you see and you assume is the counsel of God, as far as worship is concerned. Thank God, lately the Lord is beginning to break some of us from what I call the traditions of men. There's nothing that corrupts the pure heart of worship, like superstitions of men, assumption. And listen to me, whatever a man cannot explain, he will be worshiping it. Go and check history. Religions and different kind of worship came out of mysteries, that men came to a thing, it doesn't matter what it is, if they can't explain it, they will bow to it. If a tree looks somewhat, men will gather around it, and say this must be a God. The traditions of men. The tradition of men says, you must get to a place to worship God. It's part of tradition. You must be in a particular place before God is worshiped. This is assumption. Do you know why it is like this? Not until the revelation of Christ, or the revelation of worship of God in Christ, men didn't understand what God was demanding when he say worship me. We'll look at it gradually. Until this point, Jesus giving the woman a glimpse of what worship is, that all that your fathers called worships are, is not worship. It is their own way of assuming they are worshiping God, but that is not how God wants to be worshiped. Verse 21, Jesus said unto her, "Woman, believe me, the hour cometh." Let me tap and say, the hour has come. It has happened already. Now, what Jesus was telling us, "A time is coming, wait for it, when you will understand what God was saying when he says worship me. You remember Jesus speaking to them, the Pharisees, Matthew referring to one of the scriptures of the prophets, he says, "These people worship me only from their lips, their heart is far away. They chant praises. But what I want is not what they are given, in their assumption they are praising me, they are worshiping me. He said, "Their heart is not attached, their heart is far away. In vain they call my name. In vain. They call my name. Their heart is far. Now let me quickly tell you this. Holy Spirit help. What is worship? Worship in the Greek word means prosconeo, prosconeo, which means kneeling or prostrating to do homage to to someone or to make adoration, whether in order to express or to make supplication. Number one. Number two, it is the expression of reference. Adoration of God. Now, from inception times and situation might have changed the way men worship God. But something has not changed. The center of worship has not changed. In different dimension or dispensation, men worship God based on their understanding of who God is and of what God require of that generation. But something has remained constant, the center of worship, God. So, worship is an expression of value for God in deep reverence, from the depth, depth of your innermost being, the spirit and the soul, an expression of value of worth for God, in deep appreciation, in deep adoration, in deep reverence, from the depth of so it's more than just what you say, it's what comes from you. You could just be making a sound and you are worshiping God. The Bible will say, "Making melody in your heart. Hallelujah. Where your heart is, reveals where your value lies and where your worship goes. Now, the greatest obsession of God is to be worshiped. Write it down. The greatest thing God desire is to be worshiped. And you will see in Exodus chapter 20 when God began to speak to them, the first three, four commandment he gave them was about worship. As soon as he gathered the Israelites and spoke through Moses, let's go to Exodus 20 and from verse 1. Exodus 20 verse 1. Quickly, please, or give me from verse 2. And God spake all these words saying, "Let's go. I am the Lord thy God which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Let's go. Thou shalt have no other God. No other gods before me. The first statement, the first commandment, the first instruction is that you will not worship any other thing but me. This priority shows the real mind of God. Before God began to talk to them about any promise about any prophecy, he said, "The first thing you must know to walk with me is that I must be the only one in your life. You can't have plan B, if I'm there. There will not be alternatives if I am involved. No other gods before me. Verse four, verse four. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, still talking about worship. That should, in case you don't know what I mean, that there shouldn't be anything aside me in your life. Don't make anything that looks like me or anything or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, even though they look spiritual. I remember an event that touches my heart right now. How men have been reduced to idol worshippers because they don't know. Though, in church, but deeply they are not worshiping God. You remember Paul in Acts 17, he got to a place where all they were doing was to say or hear new things. They were men of, but at the front of their symbol is to the unknown God. They worship. I was invited to preach somewhere, here in Ibadan, it's what the celebration of one of their founders that has gone to be with the Lord. So, annually they come to celebrate in Ibadan. So, they call me to come and preach. So, I got there before them because some of them came from outside and I was waiting. I didn't know God wanted me to see something. So, when I was waiting for them, they came in in buses. As soon as they alighted, they went straight to where that man and his wife was buried and started rolling there. Olorun baba mi. Where I was, I said, "God, these people will not invite me again. Because I will tell them this is wrong. I think that was my last invitation. Because I told them, I said, "Do you know there is something called the worship of the dead?" I put it to them straight. I said, "There's a religion where they worship their dead, their ancestors and their adults. Say, are you aware?" I said, "It is not anything different from what you're doing now." I asked them. I said, "Do you know why God didn't allow the Israelites to know where Moses was buried? It's to avoid what you are doing." They all looked at me. I said I will say this. I said it and I didn't get another invitation. Praise God. That's by the way. We are in Exodus. I want to show you quickly. Let's see listen to I like you to follow this series patiently. It will change your perception about worship. Thou shall not make unto thee any grave image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above. You go to churches, I don't want to mention it. All kind of idol worshipping today in church. You go to some church, listen to me. Some of us have done it ignorantly. To carry crucifix And do like this and anyone who wants to come into the choir stand, we have to bow before it. Can't you see? I just told you that worship means to bow or kneel or prostrate for something or someone. Any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. I was watching one my my wife we were watching it together. A man was preaching and he had an image. They called the image Holy Mary. And he was defending the image assiduously. Let's fight. Let's fight. Let's go. Let's fight. Thou shall not bow down thyself. Thou were bow down. Don't worship your don't worship. Thou shall not bow down thyself to them nor serve them. For I the Lord, I am a jealous God. God is so much a God that you don't need any other thing aside him. This is the meaning of what he is telling you. That you you give God an impression of not being sufficient enough. When there's a plan B in your life. And some of us have We have been told and taught that you are you are an idol worshipper when you bow before an image. But listen to me, you don't need to bow before an image. Where your heart goes. Jesus knew what he was saying when he said you can't serve two masters. You can't serve mammon and serve God. And mammon is the reason today. That people has they have they are seeing God as an alternative. They have time to resume work 7:00 a.m. because of mammon. Close 10:30 all through the year. It's comfortable. But two-hour service before God, they are looking at time. Worship of mammon. For the Lord, thy God, I am a Look at God introduce himself. He said, you are I am the only one in your life. I should be the only one. Visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children of unto the third fourth generation of them that hate me. So, so worship an idol is the hatred of God. God say, if you worship an idol, you hate me. Calvary saying. Hallelujah. So the revelation or the relationship of man with God, write this down, the relationship of man is God, is worship-based. When God says, "I have a relationship with you," he's telling you, "You are my worshipper." Remember, Adam and Eve were created to worship. How? At the cool of evening, God comes to them. What were they doing? They were worshipping God. They were in relationship. Intimacy with God actually means worship. Accurate worship. Why? Why did God desire spirits or spiritual men or nature to worship him? Spiritual natures are the object of God's quest. You have to be like him to worship him. That was why Jesus said, "Those that will worship him, they have to be a spirit themselves." It is not a worship if you don't come to his level. Listen to me. Nebuchadnezzar was an animal for seven years. As soon as his heart changed to the heart of man, He became an animal because he worshiped self. He called himself a God. And so he became an animal. And after seven years, the Bible says, and his heart was lifted up. His heart was changed to the heart of a man. And for the first time, acknowledged that there is a God in heaven, and then he returned back to balance. So, our relationship with God is worship-based. You must understand what worship is to have a relationship with God. Worship is not lifting hands only or singing worship. Or now we are, it's about worship time. Let's get into worship mode. It's not a mode, it's a life. You are a worshipper either in church or in office. Hallelujah. So God wants to be worshipped from the inmost part of men, the spirit and the soul of men. Shout hallelujah. Also, the greatest obsession of the devil is to be worshipped. Matthew chapter 4 verse 9, "Worship me, and I will give." Matthew 4, give it to me quick. Give it to me. Matthew 4 and verse 9. And said unto him, "All these things will I give thee, if thou will fall down and worship me." Yeah. That's what the devil almost Look for verse 8. Look at what Jesus said. Look for verse 8. Luke chapter 4 verse 8. And Jesus answered and said unto him, "Get thee behind me, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt" (he quoted Exodus to him) "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him alone" "thou shalt serve." It was this obsession to be worshipped that made the devil taugh in his heart. He was going to place his throne above the throne of God. And that the whole congregation of the earth will bow to him. Because of time, you see that in Isaiah 14 verse 12 to 15. The devil is so obsessed to be worshipped. And that's why if a man carried a paper and placed it before him, and say this is my God, a demon will enter that paper. Eventually, he will start receiving a response from the paper. Even though the paper it's it's a it's a it's a non-living thing, but as soon as demon sees that man bows to a thing, a demon will occupy that thing. So, ignorantly to demand, he will begin to get a response, a revelation. A spiritual encounter from the paper. That's why today, if you go…
